how to assign values to the resistors and capacitors

Usually, when you search for a resistor or capacitor part number, it already comes with a specific value. To show this on your schematic, you can edit the symbol properties and set the desired value. For example, in Kicad you can simply double-click the symbol (or right-click → Properties → go to Value in General Tab) and enter the value in the Value field.

This is the general approach, but if you’re using a specific CAD tool, please let us know and we’ll be glad to help you out.
