Why are the silkscreen labels so far off to the sides for IPC-C footprints?
simple capacitors and resistors often come with IPC-A, IPC-B, IPC-C, and MFG footprint options. I noticed on many of them the silkscreen lines on either side of the component are very far apart and I don't understand why?

What do you mean by silkscreen labels? If you mean the silkscreen lines, we follow IPC-7351B (Density Level B) and in-house standards, ensuring 0.32 mm clearance between the silkscreen and copper pads. This enhances clarity, prevents overlap, and ensures manufacturing reliability.
You can follow the IPC-7351B standards in your design, as we currently only support the nominal density (Density Level B)
